One of the more uplifting roles as editor of NZ Cargo magazine is doing an interview with someone all fired up with enthusiasm. Fortunately, this happens to us quite a lot, and it’s great to be able to write about it when it happens. Take, for example, the story lead from TCL Isuzu recently, who had just delivered a brand spanking new NL series truck to Karan Sharda of Sharda Transport Ltd. Yeah, yeah, a nice new truck in time for Christmas – a nice, feel good story. Along we went to Meadowlands Countdown to meet up with Karan and have a chat about his new Isuzu. Now, to say we had no preconceived ideas would be a lie, but we certainly were not expecting to see a line of trucks at the loading dock, with Karan’s Isuzu in pride of place at the front of the queue and literally gleaming – paling the other trucks by comparison.

Isuzu were fortunate not to have suffered any more than minor damage to buildings and while they closed for two weeks for humanitarian and immediate contributions of products for humanitarian reasons, normal but slightly restricted production began after the two week break. The production capability was not known until the plants were tested and running with the supply network into Isuzu established and back in place. We have all been amazed at the recovery speed, While there has been some panic buying and various rumours of months of truck shortages this has not proved to be the case with Isuzu.
With the arrival of the next shipment all popular models are in stock and some of the slow moving specialist vehicles are starting to arrive.
